FAQ
DO YOU TAKE RESERVATIONS? Due to our secluded location and various unpredictable factors such as weather and traffic, we regret to inform you that we are unable to accommodate reservations. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis for walk-in guests.
HOW LONG IS THE WAIT FOR A TABLE? Weekdays typically entail little to no wait or a maximum of 20 minutes. However, on weekends, public holidays, or during peak seasons, expect a wait time of 30 minutes to an hour. While rare, wait times may occasionally exceed an hour, but rest assured, we strive to keep it as brief as possible.
WHY DO YOU TAKE ONLY ONE PAYMENT PER TABLE? Our remote setting presents certain challenges which can include limited satellite and cellular access. This is prohibitive to our payment processing times when splitting payments. We’re actively developing a system to facilitate multiple payments and will implement it as soon as possible.
DO YOU ACCEPT BIG GROUPS? Absolutely! However, depending on our capacity and current demand, we may need to accommodate large groups by splitting them. During busy periods, seating may not be simultaneous or in the same section to ensure fairness to waiting guests.
DO YOU OFFER TAKEOUT? During peak season, takeout is unavailable at the main restaurant but is offered at our coffee trailer, open every weekend. Otherwise, feel free to stop by and order takeaway from the restaurant throughout the rest of the year.
ARE YOU OPEN YEAR-ROUND? Yes, we operate year-round, closing only on December 25th and 26th.
ARE YOU DOG-FRIENDLY? Absolutely! While not all areas of the restaurant accommodate dogs (per external regulations), we enforce an on-leash policy for safety and comfort. Please note our dog-friendly tables are covered but lack heaters, so be prepared with warm layers, especially on colder days.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE:
By car: Although street parking might seem busy, our on-site parking has ample space. Please consider utilizing it after a brief loop to avoid congestion.
By bike: Bike racks are provided on-site; kindly refrain from bringing bikes into the restaurant for the convenience of all guests and staff.
Follow the boardwalk to meet our host: Despite our name, “Fergie’s Cafe,” we are a full-service sit-down restaurant. Allow our team to assist you from start to finish, and simply follow the boardwalk until greeted by our host, whose location may vary but is always accessible without descending stairs.
While waiting: Please note that our restaurant’s table plan is dynamic, and we may shift seating arrangements to accommodate guests. Consequently, you may see empty tables, but this does not necessarily indicate availability. Feel free to explore our coffee trailer for refreshments while waiting, take a walk down by the river and if you are lucky you may even spot an Eagle! There is also the Greenhouse gift shop onsite that carries many locally made items and artisanal products. You’re welcome to partake in our designated seating on the lawn, or if preferred, grab a picnic blanket and relish the scenic views of Alpha Mountain. Alternatively, find solace under the shade of a Maple tree for a moment of tranquility.
